2018 Audi A5 Safety

Structural engineering

To help protect you and your passengers in the event of an emergency, our chassis engineers designed the Audi A5 to both absorb the energy of impact and also remain rigid where it’s most needed.

Active rollover protection

Using sensors that monitor the vehicle’s motions, the A5 Cabriolet with active rollover protection will deploy two rollover bars.

Airbags

To help protect you in many ways, the Audi A5 comes equipped with multiple air bags. The A5 Coupe is fitted with eight airbags, while the Cabriolet has six. The Sportback has eight standard airbags plus two optional airbags.[1]

ESC

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is both a safety and a performance-enhancing feature. Networked with the quattro® all-wheel drive system, ESC detects a loss of traction and will apply braking input to help prevent excessive body motion or slip. ESC also helps you maintain your intended line through a corner with intelligent torque vectoring.

ABS

All Audi A5 models come standard with a sophisticated anti-lock braking (ABS) system that helps prevent wheel lock-up so you can brake and steer to avoid an incident. As a safety feature, ABS can help prevent accidents. The ABS system in the Audi A5 is integrated with the vehicle’s other driver assistance systems and work together to help enhance safety.
