2018 Audi A8 L quattro®
Standard quattro® all-wheel drive
Under most driving conditions, the quattro® all-wheel drive system in the Audi A8 distributes 40 percent of the torque to the front wheels and 60 percent to the rear wheels to provide a rear-wheel drive feeling. When the system detects a loss of traction at either axle, quattro® can send up to 70 percent of torque to the front wheels or 85 percent to the rear wheels.

To enhance directional stability at higher cornering speeds, the quattro® system slows the inside wheel by applying minimal, selective braking pulses.
2018 Audi S8 plus quattro®
Four ways to put power in its place.
A two-wheel drive system could struggle to apply all of the 605 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque from the twin-turbo V8. By delegating the duties to four driven wheels and redirecting torque to the wheels with the most traction, quattro® helps turn power into motion.
quattro® sport differential
To help optimize traction of the rear wheels, the standard quattro® sport differential can direct torque to the outside wheel to help improve traction when you’re rounding a corner. The sport differential works with the vehicle’s traction and stability control systems, which can sense a loss of traction.
