BEAUTY WASN’T THE OBJECTIVE, IT WAS THE RESULT.
Definition of Audi Sport®
A powerful meaning takes shape.
Some symbols are so imbued with meaning that they don’t need to be defined. Others, like the RS badging, have defined “racing sport” for generations.

CONTROLLING THE FLOW TO ITS ADVANTAGE.
As the air travels over, around and under the iconic lines of the Audi R8 V10, it can’t resist becoming an integral part of the performance. Cooling air is directed to the radiator, while the air flowing around the side is fed into the sideblades to feed the powerful 5.2-liter V10 engine. Air flow under the car is channeled through the rear diffuser to help generate downforce.
Super car profile with Roof line and wheel arches
While we didn’t invent the low-slung, super car silhouette, our interpretation is unmistakably Audi. The well-defined wheel arches were influenced by our legendary race cars, and the smooth sloping roof line looks like it was shaped by the wind with skilled hands.
Full LED headlights and taillights with dynamic turn signals
Four integral parts of the stunning design of the Audi R8 are the full LED headlights and taillights. The headlights are shaped to fuse seamlessly within the front fascia of the Audi R8, placed artfully above the side air intakes and below the curvaceous front fenders. The horizontal shape of the rear taillights makes for high visibility, and the progressive inward-to-outward movement of the dynamic taillights help create awareness.
Air inlets at front and rear
The air inlets below the LED headlights were designed to draw in air to help cool the brake discs. In the rear, the air that flows out of the vents beneath the rear taillights plays a role in cooling, too.
Two-piece Ice Silver sideblades
Design function becomes iconic style. By turning the side air intakes into a styling element, Audi designers created one of the most recognizable features of the Audi R8. The two-piece sideblades are painted Ice Silver to draw as much attention as they draw in cool air.
Trapezoidal exhaust outlets
Neither circular, oval or square, the unique trapezoidal shape of the exhaust outlets adds a distinctive element to the tail-end styling of the Audi R8.
Available 20" 10-spoke-Y design wheels, Silver finish
Five spokes extend from the center and then branch outwards to create 20 spokes at the outer edges. Forged to be both light and strong, the classic Y-spoke pattern adds visual contrast to the smooth curvilinear surfaces of the Audi R8.

A BREATH OF FAST AIR.
The sound of the air swirling over and around you heightens the exhilarating rush you experience in the Audi R8 Spyder. While most convertibles look like design afterthoughts, the R8 Spyder loses nothing and gains unique touches such as a ventilated engine cover, an Aluminum-optic window surround and one-piece sideblades. An R8 from any angle, it will take your breath away in more ways than one.
Aluminum-optic engine vent covers
Two parallel engine vents run the length of the engine cover of the Audi R8 Spyder. The Aluminum-optic treatment on the vents matches the windshield frame and adds a jewel-like finish to the stunning design of the R8 Spyder.
Acoustic folding roof
The roof of the Audi R8 Spyder can be raised or lowered while on the move, at speeds up to 31 mph. The roof is made from a special aeroacoustic material designed to help keep interior noise low when the roof is closed.
Aluminum-optic windshield surround
The Aluminum-optic treatment to the windshield surround of the Audi R8 Spyder is one of the trademark design elements of open-top Audi vehicles. It combines with the Aluminum-optic engine vent covers to add a sheen to the top half of the R8 Spyder.
One-piece Ice Silver sideblades
The Audi R8 Spyder features a one-piece sideblade air intake that’s finished in Ice Silver, which compliments the Aluminum-optic paint on the fuel filler door, engine vents and windshield surround.

THE UPSIDES OF DOWNFORCE.
The R8 V10 plus features a carbon fiber front-lip spoiler and rear-mounted spoiler to help route the air it confronts. A carbon fiber rear diffuser helps accelerate underbody air flow to reduce drag and increase downforce. As speeds increase, so does downforce, which can help improve stability.
2018 Audi R8 V10 plus Spyder Exterior design
The high-output 602 hp V10 propels the Audi R8 V10 plus Spyder through the rarified air of super car performance. Super-strategic use of carbon fiber design elements help control air flow and add visual distinction. They include one-piece Carbon Sigma sideblades, front and rear carbon fiber spoilers, side sill extensions and exterior mirror housings made of the high-tech material.
Carbon fiber exterior elements
Prized for its strength-to-weight ratio, and a favorite material in race car design, carbon fiber is tastefully and effectively incorporated into the exterior design of the Audi R8 V10 plus. In addition to the front lip spoiler and fixed-position rear spoiler, the R8 V10 plus features mirror housings, a rear diffuser and sideblades made of the high-tech material.
Full LED headlights with Audi laser light
The Audi R8 V10 plus is one of the first production vehicles to feature laser lighting technology—another example of how Audi continues to lead the way in lighting. The laser module within the headlights uses four high-intensity laser diodes and a phosphor convertor to transform blue laser light into a bright white light. The laser lights are activated at 40 mph and above, when conditions permit, and supplement the high-beam setting by projecting a low and wide beam of light.
Black optic package
Taking the power of black to create a moody effect, the Black-optic package adds Titanium Black high-gloss exterior trim and forged 20" 10-spoke-Y design wheels finished in high-gloss Anthracite to complete the stealth look.
