2018 Audi R8 Performance

WE LEARNED OUR LESSONS THE FAST WAY.
Racing, literally, accelerates development. We put our knowledge and innovations to the test lap after lap. In the heat of battle, we find what works, what lasts and what it takes to go faster. And then we apply that to our production vehicles.[1]
The racing roots run TO ITS CORE.
Beneath its captivating curves is the foundation of a racer. The Audi R8 V10 and R8 LMS GT3 race cars share up to 50% of their components, including the advanced ASF® multi-material spaceframe and race-winning 5.2-liter V10 engine.[1]

5.2-liter FSI® V10 engine

While other manufacturers employ turbochargers to create power, the 5.2-liter FSI® V10 in the Audi R8 makes its power naturally, without forced induction. An innovative dual-injection system incorporates direct injection and indirect injection fuel supply to keep power flowing.

Dry sump engine oil system

Conventional engine design places the oil pan beneath the engine block. By using a dry sump oiling system that removes the oil pan, the engine can be placed lower to improve the car’s center of gravity and handling performance.

S tronic® dual-clutch transmission

Two clutches working simultaneously in the S tronic® dual-clutch transmission help deliver smooth, quick gear changes. A hundred and twenty milliseconds is faster than a human can shift a manual transmission. And less time changing gears means more time accelerating.[1]

2018 Audi R8 V10 plus performance

CONTROLLING WEIGHT WITH A DIET RICH IN CARBON FIBER.
The Audi R8 V10 plus Coupe is over 100 pounds lighter than the Audi R8 V10 Coupe. Part of the credit goes to the carbon fiber front lip spoiler, fixed-position rear wing, rear diffuser and Carbon Sigma sideblades. The Racing shell sport seats and a lighter standard audio system also contribute to the loss in weight and gain in performance.

5.2-liter FSI® V10 engine

For the Audi R8 V10 plus, the high-revving, naturally aspirated engine is fine-tuned to produce an extra 70 hp.[1] At 610 hp, it is the most powerful production-car engine Audi has ever created.
S tronic® dual-clutch transmission
The S tronic® dual-clutch transmission in the Audi R8 V10 plus uses shorter, closely spaced ratios for 3rd to 7th gear when compared to non plus models. Shorter ratios help improve acceleration, and closely spaced ratios help keep the engine closer to its power peak between gear changes.[1]
Sport exhaust system with Black tips
Acoustically tuned to bring out the character of the 610 hp 5.2-liter FSI® V10 engine,[1] the Sport exhaust system allows you to manually control the exhaust tone via the Sport exhaust button on the steering wheel.
